Kyrgyzstan’s freestyle wrestling team won three medals on the opening day of the U23 Asian Championships in Da Nang, Vietnam.
Kyrgyz athletes finished the day with one silver and two bronze medals, making a strong start for the national team at the continental championships.
The U23 Asian Championships brought together the continent’s strongest young wrestlers under the age of 23. The competition took place from May 23 to 26 and included freestyle, Greco-Roman, and women’s wrestling.
In the following days, the Kyrgyz national team continued its medal campaign. The men’s freestyle team ultimately achieved one of the tournament’s strongest results, winning 9 medals across 10 weight categories — 1 gold, 3 silver, and 5 bronze — scoring 166 points and finishing third in the team standings.
